History of department
Department of infectious diseases was founded in 1920. The first head of the department was N.N. Klodinsky (1920-1940) Later at the head of the department were A.G. Alexeev, N.I. Ragoza, B.N. Starodomsky, A.L. Katzenovich, N.D. Itzkovich. In 1952 the department was united with the department of tropical diseases, and in 1954 it was divided into 3 departments.
T.H. Najmutdinov was at the head of the department of infectious diseases for Medical and stomatologic faculties and held the post up to 1969.
Department for pediatric and medical-and-prophylactic faculties was held by A.L. Katzenovich (1954-1962гг.)H.A. Yunusova held the department of childhood infections for 33 years (1954-1987). A new department of childhood infections was organized in 1982 with T.O. Daminov at the head of it up to 1984. From 1984 till 1987 S.N. Nusrutullaev held the department, later the chair was held by O.S. Makhmudov (1987-1990), Daminov T.O. (1990-2012), B.T. Kholmatova held the chair in 2012-2013.
After organization of the II Tashkent State Medical Institute Sh.N. Nazarov held the department from 2004 till 2004, M.D. Akhmedova held the post from 2004 till 2012, in 2012-2013 M.T. Karimova held the chair in 2012-2013.
Departments of childhood infections and department of infectious and childhood infectious diseases were joined up in 2013. Since that L.N. Tuychiev has held the department.
